how many kind of coats does tzu have? i mean....kung ang tao meron coarse, fine, normal, etc. ang tzu ba meron din iba't ibang klaseng hair? kasi, napansin ko sa 3 tzus ko, iba iba ang hair nila. do we also use different shampoos and conditioner for the different kinds of hair?

well basically, one brand of shampoo will not give you the same results applied on different coats. you may want to try different brands and find out with which brand works best for a certain coat...
as for the types of tzu coat, i only noticed two kinds, thick coat, and thin coat, this has to do with genetics though.

like i previously mentioned, that has something to do with genetics. not all my tzus din naman same ang coat nila eh, iba iba din sila ng texture, it's just a matter of trial and error which brands works best with who..

hi there!!!
tama si honeybabe. there are a million combination of coat hair. mas mahirap to study the coat hair kung cut down na. if you really want to see specimen of different coat texture and feel, its good you attend shows kase lahat don full coat.
as for the products, maloloka ka sa pagpili. marami factors to consider aside from coat texture. nandyan ang weather, water type etc etc.
basta baseline mo is shampoo that is ph6. kung hindi ph6, you must dilute it sa water. One drop of shampoo is equivalent to 15 frops of water. That shampoo is cream based din para hindi drying.
After the shampoo, you must condition, pet or show, condition pa rin. para fresh and hindi dry ang feel ng coat.
btw, if you have friends that are into shih tzu, please invite them keep on posting

ARGGGGHHHHHHH...........ma buang ko ani!!!!lol lol lol thanks a lot for the inputs guys. HAHAHA! Nakakabuang tlga ang pag determine ng coat at kung ano ang gamitin to groom. Long coat is one of the distinct feature of the shih tzu but mind you, the coat is just icing on the cake. They are otehr factors that affect what the shih tzu is.

for me coat is just a plus with my shih tzu, like rain said.. there are tons of other factors that makes a shih tzu a shih tzu...
it's nice to keep one or two in full coat, but frankly, i prefer them cut down.. LOL!!

it would really depend which brand your shih tzu's hair would likely adapt to...
some nice brands breeders use are as follows:
all systems coat handler unicure unicare pantene - yes pantene, i have tried this, okay sya
